Call for papers

We would like to invite Kant scholars worldwide to submit proposals for the XI Multilateral Kant Colloquium. The event is intended for researchers, faculty members, and master's and doctoral students. It will take place in Florianópolis, Brazil, at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) from September 29 to October 3, 2025.

The call for papers will be open until 28 February and applicants will be informed of the results by 30 April 2025.

​

The abstract should be written in English or Portuguese, with a maximum of 500 words, and sent to ximultilateralkant@gmail.com . Authors are requested to indicate their current institutional affiliation in the email. The presentation will consist of 20 minutes for the lecture and 10 minutes for discussion.

The general theme of the event will be "Enlightenment: Science and Ethics" and the sub-themes will be the following:

  • Enlightenment and religion; 

  • Enlightenment and science; 

  • Enlightenment and ethics; 

  • Enlightenment and law; 

  • Enlightenment and education; 

  • Enlightenment and art; 

  • Enlightenment and politics; 

  • Enlightenment and practical and theoretical irrationality; 

  • Enlightenment in the context of Latin America; 

  • Lies, Fake News, conspiracy theories: Kantian perspectives; 

  • Enlightenment and global warming; 

  • Enlightenment and cosmopolitanism; 

  • Enlightenment, gender and race.

The Multilateral Kant Colloquium constitutes an long series of international, multilingual events dedicated to the study of Kantian philosophy. These events have fostered the development of a growing international network of Kant scholars, which is expected to continue expanding, paving the way for new joint ventures and collaborations on research projects and collective publications. Since 2008, ten events have been held across six different countries, namely:

  • X.  “The Space of Feelings: Kant and His Legacy”, Parma/Ferrara, Italy, 2023.
